Baseball Game Preview: Midway Raiders vs. South Lenoir Blue Devils

For the second straight game, Midway will face off against South Lenoir. The Raiders will welcome the Blue Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Midway will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Midway is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They put the hurt on South Lenoir with a sharp 8-1 win. The Raiders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by seven runs or more this season.

Tanner Williams made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed seven innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Wyatt Herring was excellent, going 2-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Wyatt Scott, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base.

Midway pushed their record up to 23-7 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.2 runs over those games. As for South Lenoir, they moved to 21-4 with that loss, which also ended their six-game winning streak.
