Baseball Recap: Lakeland Takes a Loss

Lakeland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They lost 11-4 to the Lake Region Thunder. The Dreadnaughts were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Thunder earlier this season, when they won 7-4.

Lakeland got a good showing from MAX ESTROFF, who tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. ESTROFF has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Caleb Diaz made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. He has become a key player for Lakeland: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 7-9 otherwise. CARTER MASLYN was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Lakeland now has a losing record of 9-10. As for Lake Region, the win got them back to even at 9-9.

Coming up, Lakeland will be playing at home against George Jenkins at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lake Region, they will take on Bartow at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
