Soccer Game Preview: Maine South vs. Deerfield

The Maine South Hawks will face off against the Deerfield Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Maine South had been on a three-game streak of scoring at least four goals, but Glenbrook North put an end to it on Saturday. The Hawks lost 5-0 to the Spartans. Maine South have struggled against Glenbrook North recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost meeting.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Deerfield). They were the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over Grayslake North on Saturday. Considering Deerfield have won six matches by more than two goals this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Their offense was hitting Grayslake North from everywhere, as five different players booted in a goal. Lauren Jones led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by herself.

The victory made it two in a row for Deerfield and bumps their season record up to 9-4. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 12 goals over those two contests. As for Maine South, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-5-1.
