Basketball Recap: Salem Sayers Baptist Academy Takes a Loss

If Salem Sayers Baptist Academy was feeling good fresh off their 53-32 takedown of Sunnybrook Christian back in November of 2024, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Salem Sayers Baptist Academy came up short against the Lifegate Christian Falcons on Thursday, falling 52-29. Salem Sayers Baptist Academy lost against Lifegate Christian in their previous head to head back in January of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 61-17 score last time.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lifegate Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Anelyna Cavazos, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 18 boards. The dominant performance also gave Cavazos a new career-high in blocks (seven). Another player making a difference was Sharla Maples, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine assists.

Salem Sayers Baptist Academy's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Lifegate Christian, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Salem Sayers Baptist Academy will take on Sunnybrook Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
