Recap: San Benito Greyhounds vs. Hanna Golden Eagles

The San Benito Greyhounds's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their tenth straight defeat. They were dealt a 65-37 loss at the hands of Hanna. While losing is never fun, San Benito can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1166th, while Hanna is ranked 495th).

Hanna got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Beto Galarza out in front who scored 24 points. That makes it four consecutive games in which Galarza has scored at least a third of Hanna's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Matamoros, who scored 16 points along with five assists and three steals.

San Benito has not been sharp recently as the team has lost 14 of their last 15 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-18 record this season. As for Hanna, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 24-12.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. San Benito will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Rivera at 7:30 p.m. on February 13th. Rivera has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Hanna, they will head out on the road to square off against Harlingen at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hanna knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three contests -- so hopefully Harlingen likes a good challenge.
