Baseball Recap: Sherrard Has No Trouble Against Orion

Sherrard won the last time they faced Orion and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Tigers blew past the Chargers 10-2. That's two games straight that the Tigers have won by exactly eight runs.

Brady Peterson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on nine hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Harrison Curry, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Eli Matson, who went 2-for-5 with one triple and one run.

Sherrard kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive games.

Sherrard is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Orion, their loss dropped their record down to 16-13.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sherrard will take on Rockridge at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Rockets will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Tigers surely won't give up without a fight. As for Orion, they will face off against Illini West at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Illini West's pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so Orion's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
