Softball Recap: Belle Plaine Comes Up Short

Belle Plaine had lost seven straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 2-13 to make it eight. They lost 14-1 to the Medicine Lodge Indians. Having soared to a lofty 14 runs in the game before, the Dragons couldn't push the score so high this time.

Belle Plaine saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Samantha Stinnett, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Stinnett is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played.

As for Medicine Lodge, they now have a winning record of 7-6. Considering they have won six games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

On Medicine Lodge's side, Adalynn Cope spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up nine Ks.

At the plate, Avalon Theis was incredible, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Emmy Gerdes, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Medicine Lodge beat Belle Plaine by a score of 17-8 later that day.
