Softball Game Preview: Mid Valley Spartans vs. Honesdale Hornets

Mid Valley has gone 6-1 against Honesdale recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Spartans will welcome the Hornets at 7:00 p.m. Mid Valley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10 runs per game this season.

Mid Valley fell victim to Tunkhannock and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 1-0. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, the Spartans' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Ava Hazelton was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she pitched six innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

Meanwhile, Honesdale lost 12-6 to Riverside on Saturday. The Hornets have struggled against the Vikings recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

Having lost for the first time this season, Mid Valley fell to 11-1-1. As for Honesdale, their loss dropped their record down to 2-9.
