            There's no place like home for Varela, who bounced back after a  loss on the road  on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Monsignor Pace Spartans by a score of  5-1  on Thursday.
 Luis Sosa was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he  tossed three innings while giving up   no  earned runs or  hits. That's the fewest  hits  he has allowed since back in March of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box,  scoring a  run while going 2-for-4.

 In other pitching news,  Andy Espinoza looked comfortable as he  tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off   one  hit. He has become a key player for Varela: the team is undefeated when he allows at  most  three  hits, but 3-4-1 otherwise.
 Back at the plate,  Alejandro Ponte and  Yoidi Martinez did most of the damage at the plate:  Ponte  scored a  run while going 3-for-4, while  Martinez  scored two  runs while going 2-for-3. That's the most  hits  Ponte has posted since back in April of 2024.
 Varela was getting hits left and right  and  finished the game having  posted a batting average of .385. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Monsignor Pace only posted a  batting average of  .048.
Varela pushed their record up to 7-4-1 with the  win, which was their sixth straight  at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Monsignor Pace, their loss dropped their record down to 8-6.
 Both  squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Varela will square off against ABF Academy Homestead at 3:30  p.m.  on Monday. As for Monsignor Pace, they will face off against Chaminade-Madonna at 6:30  p.m.  on Monday.
