Softball Recap: Waterbury Career Academy Spartans vs. Torrington Raiders

Waterbury Career Academy had lost eight straight at home, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 4-13 to make it nine. They lost 15-1 to the Torrington Raiders. That's two games in a row now that the Spartans have lost by exactly 14 runs.

Jenesys Soto was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run.

As for Torrington, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-10. Considering they have won seven matchups by more than 11 runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

On Torrington's side, Sophia Pergola was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). The Spartans are facing the Wildcats at the right time seeing as the Wildcats are stuck on a 13-game losing streak. As for Torrington, they will square off against St. Paul Catholic at 4:45 p.m. on Monday.
