Soccer Game Preview: Fletcher vs. Oakleaf

The Fletcher Senators will square off against the Oakleaf Knights at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Fletcher's last three contests have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Fletcher is likely headed into the match with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Ponte Vedra last Friday. Fletcher fell just short of Ponte Vedra by a score of 1-0. Considering the last time the Senators couldn't score was back in December of 2024, the team can't take the result too hard.

Meanwhile, after soaring to six goals the game before, Oakleaf was a bit more limited in their game two weeks ago. They lost 5-0 to Fleming Island. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 277th, while the Golden Eagles are ranked 28th).

Oakleaf has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-8-1 record this season. As for Fletcher, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-8-2.

Fletcher suffered a grim 4-0 defeat to Oakleaf when the teams last played back in January of 2023. Can Fletcher avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
