Basketball Recap: Woodgrove Takes a Loss

Woodgrove was the 58-57 winner over Riverside when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Woodgrove Wolverines lost 86-64 to the Riverside Ram on Friday.

When it comes to explaining why Woodgrove lost, don't look at Caleb Roach. Despite the final result, he posted 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ben Zuzcek, who put up nine points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Riverside to victory, but perhaps none more so than Brady Peterson, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten boards. Those ten rebounds gave Peterson a new career-high. Mason Ridgeway was another key player, going 7 of 12 on his way to 15 points.

Woodgrove's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Riverside, the win keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

Woodgrove wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 51-41 victory against Washington-Liberty on the 14th. Riverside and Patriot will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Riverside knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five contests -- so hopefully Patriot likes a good challenge.
