Preview: Evergreen Cougars vs. Pomona Panthers
The Evergreen Cougars's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Pomona Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on January 26th. Evergreen knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three contests -- so hopefully Pomona likes a good challenge.
Even though Golden scored an imposing 56 points on Wednesday, Evergreen still came out on top. Evergreen slipped by Golden 57-56. The victory was all the more spectacular given Evergreen's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 208th, while Golden is ranked 37th).
Pomona suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Wednesday. They had to suffer through a rough 81-37 loss at the hands of Green Mountain. Pomona has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Evergreen's win bumped their record up to 5-11. As for Pomona, their loss dropped their record down to 4-12.
Evergreen strolled past Pomona when the teams last played back in January of 2023 by a score of 53-39. The rematch might be a little tougher for Evergreen since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
