Softball Recap: Bangs Dragons vs. Cross Plains Buffaloes
Bangs extended their losing streak to nine on Thursday, dropping them down to 2-11. They lost 10-4 to the Cross Plains Buffaloes. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Buffaloes this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-8 back in March.
Bangs saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cheyenne Rush, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three stolen bases, and two RBI. Adalynne Stephens was another, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.
As for Cross Plains, their record is now 7-4-1. With that victory, they brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.
On Cross Plains' side, Kenzie McLean made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out 16 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. McLean has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than 11 strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Claire Moses was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Landry Barron, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Bangs will face off against rival Ballinger at 5:00 p.m. on the 10th. Meanwhile, Cross Plains is set to challenge their familiar foe Cisco at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
