Softball Game Preview: Selma Bears vs. Reedley Pirates

The Selma Bears will take on the Reedley Pirates at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Selma is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.

Selma made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Hanford West, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Bears fell just short of the Huskies by a score of 6-4 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Bears have suffered against the Huskies since April 11, 2019.

Selma saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Audreena Duron, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.

Meanwhile, Reedley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They came up short against Kingsburg, falling 8-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Pirates have suffered since April 1st.

Jamilah Taylor made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Selma has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-10-1 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Reedley, their loss dropped their record down to 8-12.
