Recap: Cornerstone Academy Cougars vs. Riverside Christian Wranglers
This season hasn't been kind to the Cornerstone Academy Cougars, who are still winless after their sixth match. Their tough 58-33 loss to Riverside Christian on Monday might stick with them for a while. Cornerstone Academy lost against Riverside Christian in their previous head to head back in January, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 31-27 score last time.
Riverside Christian was led to victory by Willie Clines and Kyle Spratlin. Clines dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds, while Spratlin scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and six assists. The match was Spratlin's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Taytyn Cooper was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with three blocks.
Cornerstone Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Riverside Christian, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-6-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cornerstone Academy won't have much time to rest: their next game is against First Coast Christian at 6:30 p.m. on December 19th. First Coast Christian is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak. Riverside Christian will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on St. John Lutheran at 7:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
