Citrus Belt Top Player Performances of the Week

Congratulations to this week's top players! We're covering the best performances in games played on Thursday and Friday (using all statistics entered as of the time of writing). Enjoy!

Logan Barbour Delivers Best Effort of Season

On Thursday, Yucaipa got the W thanks in part to Logan Barbour playing the best football he has all season. Barbour rushed for 260 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 9.6 yards per carry, good enough to set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process. He was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 58 yards.

If the past is any indication, Barbour could be in store for another big game when he takes on Redlands on Friday. When Barbour last faced the Terriers back in October of 2023, he rushed for 105 yards and two touchdowns.

Isaac Vitela Turns in Season-Best Performance

Sadly, Isaac Vitela posting his best game of the season wasn't enough to lead Redlands East Valley over Yucaipa on Thursday. Vitela threw for 396 yards and five touchdowns, and also rushed for 75 yards on only eight carries.

A feisty cat fight will be fought when Wildcats challenges Beaumont at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The contest will pit Vitela up against the Cougars' star quarterback Jeremiah Duhu. With so much talent on the field, fans are surely in for an exciting game. The only thing left to see is who brings home the W.

Another Game with at Least Five Passing Touchdowns from Evan Powell

On Friday, Cajon got the W thanks in part to Evan Powell playing the best football he has all season. Powell wasn't messing around, throwing for 330 yards and six touchdowns while completing 78.9% of his passes. The matchup was his third straight with five or more passing touchdowns dating back to last season. He has become a key player for Cajon: the team is undefeated when he posts at least 300 passing yards, but 1-2 otherwise.

Powell and Cajon will take on Citrus Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The last time Powell took on the Blackhawks, he threw for 279 yards and three touchdowns. Can he match (or beat) that performance?

Deace Turner Delivers Electric Performance Vs Redlands East Valley

Deace Turner posted a new career-high in rushing yards on Thursday. He rushed for 134 yards and three touchdowns on only 15 carries, and also threw for 31 yards and a touchdown. He is becoming a predictor of Yucaipa's success: when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns the team is undefeated (and 2-3 when he doesn't).

Turner must have Redlands East Valley's number; he was a force to be reckoned with the last time he faced them too. Back in October of 2023 (the last time Turner saw the Wildcats), he threw for 255 yards and four touchdowns on only 14 passes, and also rushed for 34 yards and a touchdown.
