Softball Game Preview: Calvert Senecas vs. Ayersville Pilots

The Calvert Senecas will square off against the Ayersville Pilots at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Calvert lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Columbian, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Monday's game. The Senecas were the clear victors by a 19-1 margin over the Tornadoes on Monday. The victory was familiar territory for the Senecas, who have now won four matches in a row.

Meanwhile, Ayersville extended their postseason success on Saturday against Antwerp. They never let the Archers get on the board and left with a 7-0 win. The victory was nothing new for the Pilots as they're now sitting on 16 straight.

The result came thanks to Kendra Waldron's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up 16 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 17 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Daniella Coble, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles and one run. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Makayla Sierra was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Ayersville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .471. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Antwerp only posted a batting average of .045.

Ayersville's win bumped their record up to 17-4. As for Calvert, their victory bumped their record up to 20-4.
