Baseball Recap: Franklin County Now 3-1 over Last Four Games

It was a proper cat-fight when Franklin County challenged Lawrenceburg on Thursday. The Wildcats came out on top against the Tigers by a score of 7-4. This was a revenge game for the Wildcats: when they faced off against the Tigers on Monday, they had to take a 6-1 loss.

Blake Stephenson made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April. He was also big at the plate, firing off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-3. He also scored two runs, which is notable because Franklin County is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-10 otherwise.

Stephenson wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Braylon Kruthaupt, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

Franklin County is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games. As for Lawrenceburg, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-7.

Franklin County has already played their next game, a 5-4 loss against Rushville on the 19th. As for Lawrenceburg, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, an 8-3 win against Union County on the 17th.
