Soccer Game Preview: Sam Houston vs. Martin

The Sam Houston Texans will square off against the Martin Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.

Sam Houston is likely headed into the game with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Grand Prairie on Tuesday. Sam Houston lost 4-1 to Grand Prairie. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Texans came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 94th, while the Gophers are ranked 451st).

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Martin, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They blew past South Grand Prairie 4-1 on Tuesday. Considering Martin has won five matches by more than two goals this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Martin has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 14 goals over those four contests. Sam Houston's loss dropped their record down to 10-3.
