Softball Game Preview: South-Doyle Cherokees vs. Northview Academy Cougars

The South-Doyle Cherokees will challenge the Northview Academy Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. South-Doyle will be strutting in after a victory while Northview Academy will be coming in after a loss.

South-Doyle was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last match, but they sure didn't let that happen against Campbell County on Friday. South-Doyle blew past Campbell County 11-1. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Cherokees' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Rheagen Thomas was a standout: she went 1-for-3 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Kathryn McGlothlan, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Northview Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 12-0 to Cocke County.

Northview Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for South-Doyle, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-3.

Everything went South-Doyle's way against Northview Academy in their previous meeting back in March of 2023, as South-Doyle made off with a 15-0 victory. Does South-Doyle have another victory up their sleeve, or will Northview Academy turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
