Basketball Recap: Natalee North Key Part of a Team Effort in Railroaders Win

On Tuesday, the Ellis Railroaders didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against the LaCrosse Leopards, but they still walked away with a 40-35 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Railroaders.

Ellis' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Natalee North led the charge by dropping a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds. The dominant performance also gave North a new career-high in blocks (five). Isabella Eck was another key player, putting up 16 points along with six boards and five assists.

Several Leopards players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Madison Morgan, who went 6 of 15 en route to 16 points and four steals. Morgan is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Molly Showalter, who posted 12 points.

Ellis' win bumped their record up to 5-3. As for LaCrosse, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3.

Ellis will head out on the road to take on Thomas More Prep-Marian at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for LaCrosse, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on St. John at 6:00 p.m. on January 28th.
