Baseball Game Preview: Cornersville Bulldogs vs. Eagleville Eagles

Cornersville hasn't had much luck against Eagleville recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Cornersville Bulldogs will head out on the road to challenge the Eagleville Eagles at 4:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Cornersville took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Moore County, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Cornersville never let Moore County get on the board and left with a 2-0 victory on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Bulldogs have posted against the Raiders since March 19, 2019.

Meanwhile, everything went Eagleville's way against LaVergne on Tuesday as Eagleville made off with a 15-0 victory. That looming 15-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Eagles yet this season.

Spencer Robbins made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those zero hits allowed gave him a new career-low. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Brody Gleason was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in RBI. Another player making a difference was Alex Bryant, who scored four runs and stole a base.

Eagleville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

The win made it two in a row for Eagleville and bumps their season record up to 4-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Cornersville, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Cornersville might still be hurting after the 9-3 defeat they got from Eagleville when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can Cornersville avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
