Baseball Recap: Mid Valley Has No Trouble Against Holy Cross

After only two runs in their last matchup, Mid Valley made sure to put some runs up on the board against Holy Cross on Monday. The Spartans blew past the Crusaders 11-1. The Spartans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by six runs or more this season.

Nick Mills was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, firing off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 3-for-3. That's the most home runs he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Joey Romanosky, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one triple. That triple was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Anthony Balashaitis, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and two doubles.

Mid Valley hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive contests.

Mid Valley is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Holy Cross, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-6.

Mid Valley wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 12-6 victory against Riverside on the 16th. As for Holy Cross, they have also already played their next contest, a 5-3 loss against Honesdale on the 16th.
