Softball Game Preview: Mercy Tigers vs. North Haven Nighthawks

The Mercy Tigers will square off against the North Haven Nighthawks at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in Mercy's favor as the team sits on four straight wins at home while North Haven has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.

Mercy took a six-run loss the last time they faced off against Law, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Tigers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 win over the Lawmen on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Tigers have posted since May 29, 2024.

Meanwhile, North Haven fell victim to Cheshire and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They came up short against the Rams, falling 12-0.

Mercy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for North Haven, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-12.

Everything went Mercy's way against North Haven in their previous matchup back in April, as Mercy made off with a 10-0 victory. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Nighthawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
