Basketball Recap: Cannelton Comes Up Short

Cannelton lost against South Central back in February of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Cannelton Bulldogs were beaten by the South Central Rebels 57-16. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 458th, while the Rebels are ranked 209th).

Cannelton dropped their record down to 3-16 with the loss, which was their third straight at home. As for South Central, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season.

Cannelton has already played their next contest, a 57-37 defeat against Christian Academy of Madison on the 17th. As for South Central, they will welcome New Washington at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. South Central knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 12 games -- so hopefully New Washington likes a good challenge.
