Softball Recap: St. Mary's Ryken Picks Up Third Straight Win at Home

St. Mary's Ryken barely beat Northern the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Knights never let the Patriots get on the board and left with a 9-0 win on Wednesday. The Knights haven't had any issues with the Patriots recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Mikaela Guy made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up a single earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Ava Chadwick and Myla Harding did most of the damage at the plate: Chadwick scored a run while going 2-for-3, while Harding went 1-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that Harding launched this season. Carleigh Watson was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

St. Mary's Ryken pushed their record up to 11-3 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.0 runs on average over those games. As for Northern, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-5.

St. Mary's Ryken will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on St. John's at 3:00 p.m. on the 28th. As for Northern, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Broadneck at 4:00 p.m. The Bruins will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Patriots surely won't give up without a fight.
