League recap: Burlington-Edison climbs in state rankings with win

Burlington-Edison moved up to 88 from 114 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 1A/2A/3A Northwest. The Tigers were able to make move up by beating Squalicum 24-17.

Lynden extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Ferndale, 49-14. The victory was the seventh in a row for the Lions.

Nooksack Valley's Tanner Myhre and Trey Handy have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Myhre has thrown for 1205 yards this season, while Handy, a 5-foot-10 receiver, has 37 catches for 550 yards. Shawn Kenndy from Sedro-Woolley leads the league in rushing with 719 yards.

A big matchup in 1A/2A/3A Northwest this week will be when the Storm take on Lynden. Squalicum is currently in fourth, while Curt Kramme's team is in second.

Mt. Baker was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from third to first in the league. The Mountaineers vanquished Blaine 38-14 earlier in the week.
