Baseball Recap: Springstead Wins Going Away Against Central

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against River Ridge, Springstead was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 12-2 margin over the Central Bears. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by eight runs or more this season.

Dalton Williams made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Andrew Ward, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI and one triple. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Nathaniel Sabino, who scored three runs while going 3-for-4.

Springstead always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .586. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Central only posted an OBP of .360.

Springstead has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. Central now has a losing record of 3-4.

Springstead didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 7-3 victory against Citrus on the 4th. As for Central, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, an 8-2 win against Weeki Wachee on the 4th.
