Softball Recap: East Wake Comes Up Short

East Wake fell victim to South Johnston and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They came up short against the Trojans, falling 8-0. The Warriors were not able to make up for their defeat to the Trojans from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Madison Keith spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and seven unearned) runs on seven hits.

East Wake moved to 7-5 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for South Johnston, the victory (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 10-1.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. East Wake is set to face off against their familiar foe Southern Wayne at 6:00 p.m. on April 8. Meanwhile, South Johnston will take on rival West Johnston at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (South Johnston 2.6, West Johnston 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
