The Davis Sr. Blue Devils will head out on the road to face off against the Del Oro Golden Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The last five games Davis Sr. has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
On Wednesday, Davis Sr. didn't have quite enough to beat Whitney and fell 5-4. The Blue Devils haven't had much luck with the Wildcats recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
Davis Sr. saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Addison Sinclair, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run.
Meanwhile, Del Oro waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with nine straight wins... but they left with ten. They had just enough and edged out the Trojans 4-2. That's two games straight that the Golden Eagles have won by exactly two runs.
Mikayla Finn spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up 16 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Caelyn Campos was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Delaney Osborne, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Davis Sr.'s loss dropped their record down to 11-9-1. As for Del Oro, their victory was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 21-1.
Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Davis Sr. hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .326. However, it's not like Del Oro struggles in that department as they've averaged .384. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Davis Sr. suffered a grim 8-2 defeat to Del Oro in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Blue Devils avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
