Basketball Recap: Alchesay Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Alchesay had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 56-48 victory over the Blue Ridge Yellow Jackets on Tuesday. This was a revenge game for the Falcons: when they faced off against the Yellow Jackets two weeks ago, they had to take a 56-41 loss.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Alchesay to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ramona Gregg, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds. Gregg is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Lenea Lavender, who posted 17 points and three steals.

Alchesay's win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 11-13. As for Blue Ridge, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-11.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Alchesay will venture away from home to face off against Winslow at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Winslow is on a three-game streak of home losses, Alchesay a six-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck will change. As for Blue Ridge, they will challenge Snowflake at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
