Two dominant backs in Marcus Gadlin and Jovan Rodriguez are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Cinco Ranch Cougars will venture away from home to square off against the Paetow Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 996 yards in their previous games.
Cinco Ranch took a 40-point loss the last time they faced off against Jordan, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Cougars narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Warriors 24-21. The win almost wasn't to be: the Cougars were down 14-0 in the second quarter.

Cinco Ranch's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Davis Roup led the charge by throwing for 246 yards and two TDs. Roup's passing game has become a key predictor of the Cougars' success: the team is 2-1 when his passer rating is 110 or higher, but only 1-2 otherwise. 141 of Roup's passing yards were hauled in by Maxwell Williams, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Paetow). They were the clear victors by a 60-37 margin over Morton Ranch on Friday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.
Paetow's win came from a few key players Cinco Ranch will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Derek Stevenson, who picked up 159 receiving yards and a pair of scores, and also punched in one rushing score. Another passer making a difference was Jaiden Noel, who threw for 309 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 12.9 yards per attempt.
Paetow was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 270 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
Paetow's defensive line made their presence known, laying out the QB 6.5 times. That dominant display was truly a team effort as six different players picked up one apiece ( Arley Gonzalez also recorded half a sack).
Cinco Ranch is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 3-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 32.3 points over those games. As for Paetow, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Cinco Ranch couldn't quite get it done against Paetow in their previous meeting back in October of 2024 as they fell 41-31. Thankfully for the Cougars, Terrence Johnson (who rushed for 201 yards and four TDs while picking up 8.0 yards per carry, and also picked up 39 receiving yards) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
