Volleyball Recap: Elk River Comes Up Short on the Road Against Moorhead

Elk River had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They fell 3-1 to the Moorhead Spuds on Tuesday. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it four in a row.

The final score came out to 25-19, 25-11, 19-25, 25-17.

Siri Maciej paced Elk River's offense, picking up nine kills. Maciej really made an impact as she also led the team in assists with 13. She also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Lauren Havemeier, racking up two apiece.

Moorhead has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Elk River didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-2 defeat against Champlin Park on the 27th. As for Moorhead, they have also already played their next game, a 3-0 loss against Sartell-St. Stephen on the 28th.
