Softball Recap: Shorewood Comes Up Short

Shorewood blew Archbishop Murphy out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Wednesday Archbishop Murphy got their revenge. Shorewood fell just short of Archbishop Murphy by a score of 4-2. The Stormrays were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wildcats apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Shorewood saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maddie Schilperoort, who scored a run while going 1-for-1. Charlotte Copacino also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Shorewood has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-3 record this season. The victory made it two in a row for Archbishop Murphy and bumps their season record up to 3-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Shorewood will challenge Marysville Getchell at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Shorewood's pitchers better be ready for this one: Marysville Getchell has averaged an impressive 9.8 runs per game this season. As for Archbishop Murphy, they will take on Shorewood at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
