Basketball Recap: Norwalk's Loss Ends Seven-Game Winning Streak on the Road

After a string of six wins, Norwalk's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They took a 62-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Kennedy Fighting Irish. The Lancers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Fighting Irish apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2020.

Norwalk's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ariel Rodriguez, who went 6 of 7 en route to 15 points and three steals. Another player making a difference was David Zazueta, who posted ten points and eight boards.

Norwalk's defeat ended a seven-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-3. As for Kennedy, they pushed their record up to 11-4 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home.

Norwalk and Rio Hondo Prep will face off at 6:00 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. Norwalk is facing Rio Hondo Prep at the right time seeing as Rio Hondo Prep is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Kennedy, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Buena Park at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Kennedy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five contests -- so hopefully Buena Park likes a good challenge.
