Basketball Recap: Independence Takes a Loss

Independence was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss dating back to last season. They were dealt a 54-11 defeat at the hands of the Palisades Pumas. The Patriots were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-8.

Jade Marshall continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Palisades, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 11 boards. Marshall is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least four every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Tynilla Simpkins, who posted four points in addition to seven assists, seven boards, and five steals.

Independence's loss dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Palisades, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-5.

Independence will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Marvin Ridge at 6:30 p.m. Marvin Ridge will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Independence surely won't give up without a fight. As for Palisades, they will head out to take on Berry at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
