Recap: Woodlawn Bears vs. Mountain Pine Red Devils
On Friday, The Woodlawn Bears faced the Mountain Pine Red Devils in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Woodlawn fell to Mountain Pine 26-22. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Woodlawn in their matchups with Mountain Pine: they've now lost five in a row.
Mountain Pine can attribute much of their success to Adonis Delaney, who rushed for 158 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.2 yards per carry. Zyon Wyatt was in the mix as well, providing Mountain Pine with two touchdowns.
Mountain Pine's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB five times. Leading the way was Antonio Rookard and his three sacks.
Woodlawn has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-2 record this season. As for Mountain Pine, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Woodlawn will be playing in front of their home fans against Marvell Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Marvell Academy has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since August 18th. As for Mountain Pine, they will head out on the road to face off against Strong at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Strong is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
