Basketball Game Preview: Eaton Reds vs. University Bulldogs

Eaton and University are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2019, but not for long. The Eaton Reds will be playing in front of their home fans against the University Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Eaton fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Sterling on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 68-63 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tigers. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Saturday (56), the Reds still had to take the loss.

Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely University's strategy against Fort Morgan on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that University blew Fort Morgan out of the water with a 71-40 final score. The Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 20 points or more this season.

Eaton's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-6. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.0 points per game. As for University, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-3.

Eaton strolled past University in their previous matchup back in February of 2024 by a score of 64-46. Will Eaton repeat their success, or does University have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
