Recap: Notus Pirates vs. Victory Charter Vipers
The Notus Pirates lost against the Victory Charter Vipers back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Notus fell 51-41 to Victory Charter. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Notus in their matchups with Victory Charter: they've now lost seven in a row.
Despite the defeat, Notus had strong showings from Grayson Benitez, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and two steals, and Korbin Hilbert, who scored seven points along with six rebounds and two steals. Hilbert also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Zeb Porter, who scored seven points.
Notus' loss dropped their record down to 8-5. As for Victory Charter, their victory was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Notus won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Horseshoe Bend at 6:00 p.m. on January 27th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Idaho (Horseshoe Bend is ranked 114th, while Notus is ranked 96th). As for Victory Charter, they will head out on the road to take on Rimrock at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
