Preview: Litchfield Cowboys vs. Shepaug Valley Spartans
Litchfield has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the Shepaug Valley Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Friday, Litchfield was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 65-61 to Northwestern Regional. While losing is never fun, Litchfield can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked 86th, while Northwestern Regional is ranked 15th).
Shepaug Valley might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 69-61 to Wamogo Regional, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. Shepaug Valley has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Litchfield's defeat dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Shepaug Valley, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-4 record this season.
Litchfield came up short against Shepaug Valley in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, falling 72-60. Can Litchfield avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
