League recap: Whitehall/Harrison extends winning streak with victory over Florence-Carlton

Adding to the longest winning streak in Southern 5B this week, Whitehall/Harrison beat Florence-Carlton 37-6. The victory was the fourth in a row for the Trojans.

Jefferson led the league in scoring this week by notching 48 points on Three Forks/Willow Creek. Alex Brunett threw for 67 yards and ran for 72 yards in the win.

The Panthers' offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. On the ground Tate Guisti contributed 76 yards.

Sam Fletcher was the best receiver in the league this week as Jefferson bested the Wolves. Fletcher tallied 3 receptions for 57 yards.

Jefferson's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Panthers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Brunett has thrown for 564 yards and 7 touchdowns this season, while Bredt Shanholtzer has 8 catches for 181 yards.

The marquee game in Southern 5B this week will be the clash between Clint Layng's team and Broadwater. The Panthers enters the game ranked 19th in the state, while the Bulldogs ranks 12th.

Two of the top teams in the league will go toe-to-toe this week when Jefferson takes on Broadwater. The Panthers' offense has recorded 199 points this season, making them No. 1 in the league, while Travis Rauh's team has permitted only 20 on the year.

Whitehall/Harrison made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 7,801 from 8,890. The improvement was largely due to a 37-6 victory over the Falcons last week.
