Basketball Recap: Marathon Comes Up Short

Marathon won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Tuesday. They had to suffer through a 89-48 loss at the hands of the Wausau East Lumberjacks. The Red Raiders lost against the Lumberjacks in their previous head to head back in December of 2020, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 22-21 score last time.

Marathon's defeat ended a seven-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 1-2. As for Wausau East, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Marathon will take on Rib Lake at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Wausau East, they will face off against Merrill at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Wausau East's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
