Brandon Payne leads Millington Central to victory over Jackson Central Merry

Even though the Jackson Central Merry Cougars scored an imposing 57 points on Tuesday, the Millington Central Trojans still came out on top. Millington Central walked away with a 69-57 win over Jackson Central Merry. Given Millington Central's advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 135th, while Jackson Central Merry is ranked 326th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Brandon Payne was his usual excellent self, scoring 23 points. The game was his eighth in a row with at least ten points. Tayshaun Dye was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
The victory makes it two in a row for Millington Central and bumps their season record up to 8-5. As for Jackson Central Merry, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-7.
Millington Central and Gibson County will round out the year against one another at 2:30 p.m. on December 28th at. Gibson County is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Jackson Central Merry, they will face off against University School of Jackson at 11:30 a.m. on December 28th.
