Baseball Recap: Columbia City Snaps Three-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Columbia City dropped their record down to 12-5 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They fell 4-0 to the DeKalb Barons. Having soared to a lofty 19 runs in the game before, the Eagles' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

As for DeKalb, the win (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 13-1. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games.

For DeKalb's part, not much got past Malachi Webb, who gave up just four hits and racked up seven Ks to keep Columbia City off the board. Webb has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ashten Tuttle, who went 1-for-2 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That triple was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Miles Brockhouse, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Columbia City will host Garrett at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Eagles are facing the Railroaders at the right time seeing as the Railroaders are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for DeKalb, they will be playing at home against Huntington North at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
