Volleyball Recap: River Falls Wins High-Profile Contest Against Waukesha West

River Falls faced Waukesha West in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Wildcats narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Wolverines 2-1.

Amelie Pankonin paced River Falls' offense, picking up 11 kills. Pankonin got some help from Allie Larsen and her 17 assists. Adia Johnson and Brooke Dusek kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with two aces apiece.

Despite the loss, Waukesha West still got an impressive performance from Gracie Fregien, who had 12 digs and four assists.

River Falls' record is now 24-4. As for Waukesha West, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-6.

River Falls didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-1 loss against Oconomowoc on the 20th. As for Waukesha West, they have also already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against Kettle Moraine on the 23rd.
