On Friday, the La Vernia Bears ended up a good deal behind the Bay City Blackcats and lost 40-21. The Bears were down 33-7 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

La Vernia's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Keegan Hajek, who threw for 144 yards and two touchdowns, and also rushed for 31 yards.
