Softball Recap: Lowry Buckaroos vs. Bishop Manogue Miners
Lowry was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They fell victim to a tough 16-10 defeat at the hands of the Bishop Manogue Miners. Both teams can probably skip cardio this week after making that many trips around the bases.
Bailey Peterson made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 3-for-4. Adalyn Entwistle was another key contributor, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.
Even though they lost, Lowry was hitting in the alleys and finished the game with three doubles. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bishop Manogue only hit no.
On Bishop Manogue's side, Kaylee Sanchez was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off ten hits (and not a single walk). Sanchez has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive pitching appearances. Sanchez was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, Kiki Harris was incredible, going 3-for-4 with a home run, five RBI, and three runs. Another player making a difference was Lo Faust, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Lowry's loss dropped their record down to 7-12. As for Bishop Manogue, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season.
Lowry will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against North Valleys at 10:00 a.m. Lowry is strutting in with some hitting muscle, as they've averaged 8.7 runs per game this season. As for Bishop Manogue, they will square off against Douglas at 10:30 a.m. on Friday.
