Baseball Recap: Port Washington Has No Trouble Against Racine Lutheran/Prairie

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Port Washington). They blew past the Racine Lutheran/Prairie Crusaders 13-5 on Saturday. The result was nothing new for the Pirates, who have now won three matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.

Jack Bunyan was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Bunyan was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other pitching news, Sam Thompson looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

Back at the plate, Kyle Uselding was excellent, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. Austin Johnson was another key player, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 1-for-3.

Port Washington was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Racine Lutheran/Prairie only posted a batting average of .241.

The victory made it two in a row for Port Washington and bumps their season record up to 3-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 6 runs in those games. As for Racine Lutheran/Prairie, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Port Washington will welcome Slinger at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. The contest will give the Pirates their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Racine Lutheran/Prairie, they will be playing at home against Martin Luther at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Spartans will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Crusaders surely won't give up without a fight.
