Softball Recap: Fairfax Picks Up Eighth Straight Win at Home

Fairfax proved they can win big last Thursday (they won by 11) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They won by a run and slipped past the La Joya Community Fighting Lobos 10-9. The Stampede have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Fighting Lobos, too.

Alexa Quiroz was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Quiroz is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaslene Soberano, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-4.

Quiroz wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Fairfax kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits every time they've taken the field this season.

Fairfax pushed their record up to 3-0 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for La Joya Community, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fairfax will face off against Willow Canyon at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. Willow Canyon is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season. As for La Joya Community, they will challenge Kellis at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday.
